Finlander, Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on deciding to quit! Good job on staying strong and not giving in. You deserve a great reward! Unfortunately, the longer you draw out being nicotine free, the longer you'll spend fighting cravings. Your utilizing some great coping mechanisms. Keep it up! There is not such thing as one cig. Oh, yeah you may get by with it today and even tomorrow, but it won't last. Soon you will be smoking again and wondering what the heck happened. Been there done that. Then you have to start the quit all over again. Believe it is not fun quitting and starting quitting and starting. The worse is to come back here and telling everyone you smoked again and changing your quit date. Stay the course and you will be happy with yourself. LOL, cybrduke :) finlander - time for boundaries? Be careful and protect your Quit at all times... one cigarette ~ and the days of high school... One thought is fun, and lighthearted... the other - about illness and well, you know the rest of the story... Laura, We are all addicts here. We cannot have just one puff. One is too many and a thousand will never be enough. N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever) is how we quit smoking. When you smoke you are a slave to the cigarette. The freedom from that is absolutely awesome! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 482 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,650 Amount Saved: $1687 Life Gained: Days: 42 Hrs: 12 Mins: 31 Seconds: 25

Just one cigarette a day? A guy runs through a stop sign. A cop pulls him over and says I'm giving you a ticket because you didn't stop at the stop sign. The guy says oh c'mon officer, I slowed way down.... The cop pulls out his night stick and starts whacking the guy in the head with it. Then he asks the guy, sir? would you like me to slow down, or stop? Stopping smoking and having just one a day are not the same thing at all. Keep your quit - don't be tempted.....
